Effective: July 5, 2026
Unhaul is built privacy-first. The short version: your shopping struggles are your business. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we designed the app so that most of your data never leaves your device at all.
Your frozen items (titles, links, prices), decisions, streaks, statistics, quiz answers, and blocking preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app deletes them.
Coach chat (Nia). When you message the AI coach, your message and recent chat history are sent to our backend (hosted on Supabase) and processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate a reply. Chats are linked to an anonymous account ID — we never ask for your name, email, or phone number. Chat logs are retained to provide conversation history and enforce the daily message limit; contact us to have them deleted.
Anonymous authentication. The app creates an anonymous account (a random ID) solely to rate-limit the coach. It contains no personal information.
We use PostHog to understand which features help people (e.g., "a freeze was created", "a paywall was viewed"). Analytics events never include the contents of your purchases, item names, prices, or coach messages. Analytics data is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking or advertising.
Payments are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts — never your payment details.
You can use the entire freeze/panic/blocking experience without any network connection. Deleting the app removes all on-device data. To request deletion of coach chat history tied to your anonymous ID, email us from within the app's device (so we can identify the anonymous account) at hello@unhaul.app.
Unhaul is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective date.
